Phoenix Point: Behemoth Edition has some major issues, but there are also many redeeming qualities. However, free next-gen upgrades will become available, and playing on a newer system may reduce load times compared to current-gen consoles. While these issues don't technically break the game, they are very frustrating to deal with. During missions, the game will sometimes freeze or characters will glitch when moving or shooting. Otherwise, the game will start at the last spot players flew to on the Geoscape. It autosaves, so players will only lose progress if it crashes in the middle of a mission. Some players may also have an issue with the game crashing frequently. With a large number of main story quests and side activities, these loading times can add up quickly. In the overworld, players can also manufacture items and check diplomacy, as well as manage personnel, bases, and vehicles.Īlthough Phoenix Point : Behemoth Edition has a lot of interesting features, it's also composed of unreasonably long load times that bring down the overall quality of the game. To start or end every mission, the load screen takes around 2-3 minutes (sometimes more).
Research plays a major role in progressing and has its own tab for players to organize and use. Players will navigate around the Geoscape using ships and strategic planning. Flying, exploring, and researching all require time to pass, but the time can be paused on the Geoscape screen if players need a moment to plan their next moves.
The Mist, like Black Legend's fog, can be deadly as it affects how likely it is that a Phoenix Project base or a faction Haven will be attacked. The Geoscape shows the various Havens, missions, and the spread of the Mist, which Pandorans use as cover for their bases. When Phoenix Project operatives help a Haven, the relationship with that faction will be maintained or increased. There are various types of missions, including defending Havens that are under attack and scavenging for supplies or vehicles. Combat also includes a free-aim system where players can target specific weak spots on enemies or structures. With turn-based combat and real-time global strategy, Phoenix Point: Behemoth Edition offers a compelling and challenging experience.
